Realistic Teen Fiction
An attractive girl and two brothers make this teen romance novel sing with conflict.
Annie believes herself in love with Tony. Even considers going to the full extent,
especially after he gives her his grandmother’s ring. But Tony’s different than he
used to be. When Annie is attacked and scarred by a drunken burglar, her outlook
begins to change, too. During this convalescence her feelings change toward the
troubled Tony. Could she possibly be in love with Dan, Tony's brother?
Brothers often quarrel. Look at Cain and Abel. Only they fought over an offering
not a girl. Although their fighting is fueled by jealousy over Annie, perhaps Annie is
not the root of the conflict between Dan and Tony. Dan is concerned for Tony’s
behavior. He is drinking far too heavily, and he suspects his addiction may lean
toward pornography, too. How can he help his brother when he is in love with his
girlfriend?
Michelle Sutton’s book will set the bar for Christian teen fiction. Kudos are
extended for her bravery to tell it like it is. For trusting teens to be able to handle
realism. Yet, she approaches the subjects with sensitivity and shows how turning
over even the unlovely bits of our lives to God can make a difference.
