I Know Why the Angels Dance

If Christians believe the soul is forever with the Lord when the
last breath is taken, why then do we grieve when someone we
love goes on ahead to receive their reward? This is an age-old
question that Christians ask at the time of great loss. Often as
Christians we build a wall around our grief, unwilling to accept
its reality. And to those who are suffering, we heave unfelt
sentiments without acknowledgement that the loss of a loved
one is traumatic, even for the staunchest believer.

In his adult contemporary novel,
I Know Why the Angels Dance,
Bryan Davis, author of the acclaimed
Dragons in our Midst,
Oracles of Fire, and Echoes from the Edge, explores these
issues. When John Hanson, a one-time preacher, attempts to
provide reassurance to a bereaved, atheist father, John
discovers his words are hallow platitudes. Not until he
experiences the same loss does he truly comprehend the gift
of a believer’s grief.

An engaging story and highly imaginative, Bryan Davis takes us
on a journey through the metaphysical where the central
character, Tabitha, receives visions. The accuracy of these
dreams cannot be disputed. John Hanson must draw the only
logical conclusion, that God is using Tabitha to reach a family
who needs God’s love and comfort, a family who has
historically grasped reason and disbelief as a guiding star. It is
Tabitha who reveals why the angels dance.

I Know Why the Angels Dance is a story of two fathers struggling
with incomprehensible loss. The story is sure to grab your
heart from the first page to the last.  It is a worthwhile read. I
suggest you keep the tissue box nearby.
