Gone With The Groom
By Janice Thompson
Barbour
The wedding is only two weeks away. But there is a slight
problem. The groom has turned up missing. Amateur sleuth
Annie, the future mother-in-law of the absent groom, revs into
motion taking notes and adding up the clues. Initially, doubts
arise that perhaps Scott simply disappeared from choice—cold
feet. As Annie starts piecing the puzzle she finds too many
coincidences to support cowardice. The suspects line up.
Could McKinley Pharmaceuticals, Scott’s employer be putting
pressure on Scott because of his resistance to a new drug
about to obtain FDA approval? Or could Scott’s deadbeat dad,
Otis, who suddenly appears onto the scene, have done
something to Scott as an act of revenge against his ex-wife?
There is also the shifty Malcolm Phifer, local wedding
photographer, who has become entangled in a real estate deal
handled by Annie’s daughter, the nervous bride. One cannot
discount the importance of a household pet as a partner in
crime solving.
Janice Thompson has used humor as a primary color in this
amusing who-done-it tale. The reader will laugh but also be
inspired as Annie looks not only to her sleuthing skills but to a
power far more powerful. A great read.
