Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9).
This is more than a soft lullaby sung in the dark to quiet a screaming baby. God says, “Haven’t I’ve told you this a thousand times?” It is a commandment, and expectation. Be strong and courageous and don’t get discouraged. So when I am afraid of the bills, when I fear writer’s block, when I’m tired of doing without, I shouldn’t expect a blanket of reassurance. I have sinned against God. He has commanded me to be brave. So I guess I’d better quit my mopping and get out there and do as He has commanded.
