He will cover you with his feathers, and
under his wings you will find refuge…
Psalm 91:4

The verse resembles Jesus later remark,
Oh Jerusalem. How I would have gathered
you under my wing like a mother hen.”  
God does not delight in punishment. He is
in the business of protection, love, and
giving. But He must discipline. And
discipline is a sort of refuge. My son was a
hard child to bring up. He resisted
discipline at every corner until I finally set
my foot down. Once he was rebuked,
either physically or symbolically, he
straightened out. He needed to be penned
in. In the corral of parental discipline, he
felt safe.
