A Hopeful Heart

Kim has done it again, written a book that gets to the heart
with the first paragraph.
The story evolves around a ranch run by a woman, Harriet
Wyatt, affectionately known as Aunt Hattie to her students
and the town, who runs Wyatt Herdsman School,
dedicated to teaching women the art of being a rancher’s
wife. She knows from first hand experience how tough and
dangerous ranch life can be. Many women come out west
looking for a man, but the cruelties of life soon wear them
down. In a land where men out number women, Aunt
Hattie breaks ground in an ingenious matchmaking plan,
however, the students are another matter, some stubborn
and wanting to go their own way.
Tressa Neill has come from the East to Aunt Hattie’s ranch.
Rejected by her guardians, with no dowry and desperate,
she hopes to find a husband via this unconventional way.
But will her education and upbringing be a detriment?
Abel Samms is running on hard times with the ranch he
inherited from his father. Someone is stealing his cattle
and the financial bite is almost more than he can
withstand. His fiancé from the East left him high and dry,
too. Maybe he should sell the ranch to the highest bidder.
His neighbor sure is interested.
Kim’s characters come to life in a tale wrought with
romance, history, suspense, and drama. It is a story of
second chances, of following a dream, and of letting go of
the past. It is a story that reminds us that God is the author
of our hope and future regardless of our discouragement
or misplaced ambition.
I recommend you pick up Kim’s book, get out on your
back porch and let her take you away to yesterday’s
romances.
